Album: Casper & B. – Low Battery Summer

Debuted by EARMILK, the L.A. Production Duo’s Debut Project Features Pell, Michael Christmas, Marc E. Bassy, and More

Critical Praise for Casper & B:

“No offense to Pell, but Casper and B could’ve put just about any artist on “New Phone Who Dis” and it would’ve been a murder weapon. However, by adding the enigmatic New Orleans MC specifically, the energy on this rowdy record is taken to new heights, offering an immediate spike to any mundane mood. This will be played in clubs and people will go crazy for it.” – The Smoking Section

“…club-ready, but still with the dense bars to appease any hip hop head.” – Mass Appeal

“…the two combined forces to mix their experience of hip-hop and pop music stirring up a sound truly their own.” GoodMusicAllDay

“…the true stars of the show are Casper & B. who deliver some of the most inventive and free-flowing hip-hop instrumentals to come out of LA in a long time” EARMILK

The Album:

Casper & B. have crafted a lane of their own with their debut project Low Battery Summer. With genre-bending production tying influences from hyphy, go-go, New Orleans bounce, Blink 182, and early Kanye WestLow Battery Summer showcases the duo’s versatility while featuring the likes of Michael Christmas, Pell, Marc E. Bassy, Charles Hamilton, BrandUn Deshay, Wes Period, OG Swaggerdick, and more. The glimmering project debuted by EARMILK, who said “This project is a beautifully crafted showcase of not only the group’s dexterity behind the boards, but also their ability to bring the absolute best out of all of their collaborators on each track… the true stars of the show are Casper & B. who deliver some of the most inventive and free-flowing hip-hop instrumentals to come out of LA in a long time.”

“When we decided to create our own album, we actually sat down and started listening to all of our favorite music from our entire life,” Casper explains to EARMILK. “We did this for probably about a week before creating anything. We didn’t know what our sound was yet, but we knew we wanted it to be fun. We wanted to make people dance, but we also wanted super cold spitters that could really lay down serious heat on the verses. We paired this with really catchy hooks, and banging drops. A lot of rap currently is really slow and dark. We wanted our music to sound be the opposite: soulful and upbeat.”

Low Battery Summer singles “Moneys” and “Work Hard,” which debuted via VIBE and Pigeons & Planes, respectively, have found Casper & B. fusing elements of electronic, pop, and hip-hop into their own vibrant sound. Earlier this month, GoodMusicAllDay premiered “Leave Me Alone,” a maximalist, energetic, and infectious dance track featuring Wes Period and OG Swaggerdick, and prior to that Mass Appeal shared New Phone Who Dis,” a LiteFeet party anthem featuring Pell, which The Smoking Section asserted, “will be played in clubs and people will go crazy for it.” Casper & B.’s Low Battery Summer is now available.

The Background:

LA-based producers Casper & B. expertly balance rap, dance, and pop strictly on their terms. Mixing Pete Rock and Madlib fundamentals with nuances of hyphy, go-go, Lite Feet, New Orleans bounce, and marching band sounds, the two have taken their experiences working professionally in both hip-hop and pop to create a hybrid sound of their own. Their upcoming debut project, Low Battery Summer, which features Pell, Charles Hamilton, Michael Christmas, Marc E. Bassy, and more, demonstrates how Casper and B. expertly flip pop and classical sensibilities on their head, blunted with bass drops and breakdowns. Low Battery Summer is aimed for release on June 20th.
