The Video:

Wheeland Brothers’ single “Safe Side” is a song that takes you out of your routine and to a new place where you can re-evaluate playing it safe. “The spirited lyrics seem to support the idea of getting determined, getting inspired, and most importantly following your passion,” said Top Shelf Reggae in their premiere of the video, which is highlighted by epic wipe-out footage donated by Billabong that complements scenes of the guitar-strumming brothers soaking up the sun on a Southern California beach. Sharing moments of their journey, the duo of Nate “Frogg” Wheeland and Travis Wheeland are inspiring listeners to escape their fears and live their passion with “Safe Side.” “Do you really believe that you are on the safe side, living on wasted time,” the Wheeland Brothers ask on the single, which reminds us that the world is ours for the taking. As Travis explains, “it’s here for anyone itching to step beyond the safety net, risk being seen as their true self, or quit the job that they hate but are afraid to leave. The West is still wild here in California… turns out it’s wild everywhere else if you care to look.”

After touring the United States and Caribbean performing their unique flavor of beach rock and reggae music, the Wheeland Brothers have witnessed the fruits of taking risks in the name of being true to yourself. “The music of the Wheeland Brothers celebrates life on the coast, time spent with good friends, adventures on the road – all of life’s simple pleasures,” said AXS in a recent interview with Travis Wheeland. Garnering spins on Music Choice TV and an increasing amount radio play across the country, the SoCal duo are poised to inspire their audience with their unapologetically fun, universal appeal. Previous singles from the Wheeland Brothers, “Like You Do” and “Sand In My Sheets,” were respectively featured in Forever 21‘s Summer Collection promo and Hollister‘s Labor Day playlist. With a collection of music videos that have accumulated a couple hundred thousand views and two albums under their belt, “Safe Side” is the crowd pleaser that will excite current fans while attracting the broader audience, catapulting the duo into their musical prime.

In the midst of their forthcoming East Coast tour dates, the Wheeland Brothers are slated to hit several festival stages, including the Levitate Music & Arts Festival, the Surf Rodeo, and the Kaaboo Festival, before a performance in Tahiti in October.

Wheeland Brothers Background:

The Wheeland Brothers are two Southern Californian brothers who grew up in Orange County surfing, scarfing down hole-in-the wall Mexican food, and jamming around bonfires. Their music has a sound which they describe as “beach rock reggae”; inspired by waves, hangin’ with friends, and dreaming of distant shores. Fast forward to 2014 and they have played Firefly, Wakarusa, High Sierra and Summer Camp Music Festivals, have supported national acts such as but not limited to 311, Bob Marley’s legendary band The Wailers and Slightly Stoopid, are currently being spun on radio stations nationwide in addition to music choice on TV and have received commercial syncs with Forever 21 and Hollister Co. The only downside to their busy new schedule is having less time surfing their favorite secret spots. The waves will have to wait.
