Video: Lil Durk – “India”

The Chicago Heavy Hitter Dedicates a New Love Song to His Beau India Royale

Critical Praise:

“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork

The Video:

A master of melody, Chicago hero Lil Durk specializes in honest, emotional, and tuneful rap music. Kicking off 2018 with a soulful street slow jam, Durkio pays tribute to the woman in his life in “India.” Dedicated to his girlfriend, India Royale, “India” is a passionate and surprisingly sweet love song, celebrating the couple’s happy relationship and unbreakable support for one another. Their chemistry is apparent in the video, premiered by WorldStarHipHop over the holiday weekend with over 888,000 views so far, which finds the high-profile couple publicly displaying their affection. “India” is the latest video from October’s Signed to the Streets 2.5, one of Durk’s four projects in 2017, which also featured the hit single Make It Out,” which The FADER listed as the 73rd best song of 2017.

A titan of Chicago’s early 2010s drill movement, Lil Durk has branched out and expanded his sound and his network since moving to Atlanta in early 2017. Lil Durk turned heads in December with Bloodas, an album-length collaboration with Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley, which Pitchfork praised as “the work of two elites who admire each other’s craft, but mostly who just get a kick out of each other’s company.” Last summer, Durk teamed up with fellow Drill movement rapper Lil Reese for Supa Vultures EP, a six-track collaborative project. Distributed by EMPIRESupa Vultures EP features the hit single Distance,” recently featured in Complex’s Bout To Blow columnwhich has earned over 3 million views on YouTube since August. 2017 also found the OTF spitter also made appearances on Young Thug’EBBTGTrae Tha Truth‘s Tha Truth 3Mozzy‘s 1 Up Top Ahk, and Ralo x Gucci Mane‘s Ralo LaFlare.

EMPIRE Background

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels.
