Chicago Rappers ProbCause and Hologram Kizzie Join Forces as ZRO FOX, Share Self-Titled EP via Consequence of Sound

Critical Praise for ProbCause:

“ProbCause nimbly rides fusion-friendly hip-hop tracks; there’s the DJ Screwed-up dubstep buzzer ‘Ego Trip’ and the ecstatic rap-rock track ‘Neon Dreams.'” – SPIN

“He’s a great rapper who you can imagine killing it at open mics, cyphers and old-school styled club nights.” – PotholesInMyBlog

“You’ll find WAVES incorporates several different genres within it’s overall hip-hop vibe– electronic, rock, and blues are some of the other elements tapped…”HotNewHipHop

“The rising rapper […] has continued to dominate his own lane… Prob will have you locked in.” – XXL

“…just one conversation with ProbCause is enough to make you realize that he’s deeper than even his most serious lyrics suggest.” – Chicagoist.com

“The lanky MC’s vocal gymnastics have an elastic flow… he raps like a fan in the crowd hollering at the DJ to pump up the volume.”Chicago Reader

“It’s diverse, veering from slower flows erring in the sub-genre of jazz-rap to hard-hitting, hard-spitting electro-rap. It’s a perfect summer project…”HillyDilly

“In Chicago and beyond, ProbCause is one to watch. His skills, creativity and persona are refreshing and unlike much else. There is a spin on everything that sounds and feels distinctly his. In both the rap game and the art world he is changing the rules.” – FakeShoreDrive.com

The EP:

Chicago rap duo ProbCause and Hologram Kizzie, fka Psalm One of Rhymesayers Ent., are ZRO FOX, and their five song self-titled EP displays a range of hip-hop, trap, and wavy electro-spirited cuts, showing that their musical chemistry reaches far beyond the confines of the studio. “The EP offers plenty of thought-provoking rhymes and intense production for fans of alt-leaning hip-hop,” says Consequence of Sound in their premiere post.

Earlier this month, Complex debuted the ZRO FOX EP’s first single, “Might Not,” calling it an “impressive showing.” The song features fellow Chicago rhymer Sasha Go Hard and later received an accompanying visual, which released via GoodMusicAllDay, who labeled ZRO FOX as “very self-aware, self-assured, and fiercely independent.” The duo have been getting local love as well, with the Chicago Reader stating that the single “shows off just how well these two longtime Chicago hip-hop standouts jell.”

ZRO FOX are striving to make 2015 their year. Between Hologram Kizzie claiming ZRO FOX is “more than just rap” or ProbCause sharpening his signature internal rhymes, ZRO FOX are bringing synergy back. Enlisting producers Drew Mantia and Wes P., who provide experimental backdrops, ProbCause and Hologram Kizzie deliver their abrasive, abstract rhymes on their ZRO FOX EP.

Following a group show in Chicago this past Sunday, ProbCause is on the Escape From Winter tour with New Orleans Prog Funk band Earphunk, with stops in many of the Southern states.

ZRO FOX Background:

Forming together like Voltron, Chicago MCs ProbCause and Hologram Kizzie, aka Psalm One unite in the newly formed rap duo ZRO FOX. Their music waxes poetic for every genre, yet remains undeniably hip hop. Race doesn’t matter. The scene doesn’t matter. The only thing they care about is creating and performing great art. For everything else, they give ZRO FOX!

ProbCause is a prolific rapper and a painter too. Between performing at SXSW, North Coast, Costa Rica, and tour dates nation-wide, ProbCause is keeping busy and inspiring fellow students at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. His sound, which jumps from hip-hop, to electronic, to RnB, and then back to a classic boom-bap gritty rap, helped get him signed to high-profile booking agency Paradigm. With stories that make you reminisce and a percussive delivery that highlights his versatile production skills, ProbCause is at the head of the pack of promising new Chicago artists.

Cristalle Bowen, professionally known as Psalm One aka Hologram Kizzie, is an artist who never stops evolving. In 2006 Psalm One became the only woman signed to the prestigious, fiercely independent record label Rhymesayers Entertainment. Since then she has toured the globe performing and recording an impressive discography, and has shared the stage with everyone from MF Doom and 50 Cent to Kendrick Lamar and Travis $cott. Balancing time between the road and running the hip-hop influenced after school program Rhymeschool, Psalm has always been an insightful, exciting artist to watch. In 2013, she began releasing music under the pseudonym, Hologram Kizzie. Kizzie’s solo work and group efforts ZRO FOX and The RapperChicks is always witty, fresh, eclectic, and nothing short of inspiring.
