The Video:

Cocky and streetwise, Brooklyn native Siya has the best of what New York has to offer. A rising star, she has been building to the release of her debut album, SIYAvsSIYA, which is due to be released on Decemeber 9th. Her latest single “Watch What You Say” has her playing to her strengths, reminding us to watch our mouths. Over the looping, horror-moviesque piano-driven beat Siya is joined by Sage The Gemini, who menances alongside her.  This is not Sage and Siya’s first time working together, having previously collaborated on “#BDAY,” a single by Siya’s mentor and R&B icon Tank, which also featured a verse from Chris Brown. “Watch What You Say” is the third single off SIYAvsSIYA following “Nights B4 You,” a downtempo, confessional highlight from the album, the intimidating and ominous “I know I know,”  and “My Sons,” a loose single premiered by Mass Appeal.

Born in California to a drug-addicted mother, Siya re-located to Brooklyn with her father when she was seven. Soon after moving, her father was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. Raised by her grandmother who fought in vain to keep her off the streets, Siya encountered legal trouble that landed her in prison, where she discovered her passion for rapping. A versatile 16-track effort, SIYAvsSIYA finds the Brooklyn native rhyming in many styles. Over the Brooklyn-style noir-ish boom-bap of “Body” and “OMD” to the dreamlike electronics on “Only You,” Siya proves that she can go toe-to-toe with the best rappers in New York City. Signed to RnB Money, run by R&B icon Tank, and distributed through EMPIRE, Siya is the breakout star of Oxygen‘s T.I.-produced The Sisterhood of Hip-Hop reality show starring five female rappers who navigate their way through the male-dominated music industry. Elevating her stardom through musical and non-musical means, Siya is a worthy successor to a line of Bedford Stuyvesant rappers that includes Mos Def, Lil Kim, and Biggie Smalls.
