MP3: The Mekanix – “2 Hands” ft. E-40, Too $hort, Richie Rich & Loverboi

The Bay Area Production Duo Drop Star-Studded New Single in Preparation for the June 3rd Release of Under The Hood

The Song:

A major force in Bay Area Hip-Hop for over 15 years, production duo The Mekanix recruit Hip-Hop legends E-40 and Too $hort and local hero Richie Rich  on”2 Hands, an Bay-influenced strip club banger with rubbery bass and snapping drums and a seductive hook from Loverboi. The three emcees are in top form on the track, competing among themselves to see who can spit the nastiest NSFW quotables. Premiered today by Mass Appeal, “2 Hands” is the latest single from The Mekanix’ third album Under The Hood, which comes out this Friday.

Last week, HotNewHipHop premiered “Abandonment,” a single featuring Northern California up-and-comers Mozzy and Philthy Rich. “Abandonment” followed the release of “I’m Still Here,” debuted byMass Appeal, which features a heartfelt verse from C-Bo and a posthumous appearance from Bay Area legend The Jacka. The Mekanix produced multiple tracks on Son of a Pimp 2, the latest album from Bay Area ambassadorMistah F.A.B., who praised The Mekanix in a recent interview on Shade45‘s Sway in the Morning. “To me, The Mekanix are like Organized Noize,” explains Mistah F.A.B. “They haven’t had the big record or recognition to get that love but if you look at every artist that has come out of the bay like J. Stalin, Philthy Rich to Mozzy to Keak the Sneak, they have all been through The Mekanix lab. We all have been in there, dwelling. Even the younger guys and the more established guys, have been in with The Mekanix and those dudes are the signature sound for Oakland.”

As two of the Bay Area’s foremost sound architects, 4 rAx and Kenny Tweed have produced thousands of tracks since the early ’90s for a long line of Bay rappers and played a large part in the rise of J. Stalin,Philthy Rich, Beeda Weeda, the Hittaz on the Payroll & Shady Nate. Stay tuned for Under The Hood, which follows 2012’s Chop Shop and 2014’s Chop Shop 2. The project will feature guest appearances from E-40, Too Short, Richie Rich, The Jacka, C-Bo, J-Stalin, Mistah FAB, Clyde Carson, The Hoodstarz, Beeda Weeda, Trae the Truth, Rass Kass, Nio the Gift, Erk the Jerk, Kool John, Lil Debbie, Lil Blood, The Delinquents, Iamsu, Mozzy, Keak the Sneak, The The Luniz, Shady Nate, Dru Down, B-Legit, Turf Talk, and San Quinn. Under The Hood hits stores, streaming, and chop shops on June 3rd.
