Acclaimed Songwriter Verse Simmonds Announces Diamonds, Releasing on November 10th

“Murder Charge” Is the 5x Grammy-Nominated Songwriter’s Apocalyptic, Club-Ready Collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign

The Announcement:

Known for his high-profile writing credits for the likes of Justin Bieber and Usher, Atlanta-based Verse Simmonds is often the most effective mouthpiece for his own songs. Returning to the scene with a luxurious new set of songs, Verse Simmonds announces Diamonds, his next project. An emotionally intelligent collection of tight R&B compositions, Diamonds is a potent hybrid of Hip-Hop and R&B, showcasing Verse’s divine singing voice and his structurally sound compositions. Tracks on the project run the gamut from Drake-esque trop-n-b, to ethereal cruisers, to expertly executed slow jams. Featuring an appearance from Ty Dolla $ign and with production from The Honorable C-Note and others, Diamonds, releasing November 10th, provides the exact type of genre-bending, grown and sexy R&B that the world needs right now.

Born in Puerto Rico and raised the US Virgin Islands, Verse began his career as an in-demand songwriter in a team with producer Sak Pase (Rihanna), writing songs for up-and-coming artists. In 2009, Verse caught the ears of Jimmy Iovine, who signed Verse to Interscope Records, under an imprint managed by Rodney Jenkins (Beyonce, Michael Jackson). In 2011, after leaving Interscope to pursue a career as a singer, Verse released “Boo Thang,” an impressive slow jam with an appearance from Kelly Rowland, which grabbed the attention of Akon, who signed him to a deal with Konvict Music. Verse quickly became one of the industry’s most in-demand songwriters, writing songs for the likes of Chris Brown (“New Flame”) and Fifth Harmony (“Top Down”), and earned one of his five Grammy nominations for his writing on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Who Gon Stop Me” in 2012. Last year, Verse earned a major hit with “Permission,” a Grammy-nominated R&B radio smash for Ro James.

Today, Verse shares Murder Charge,” a raucous, trap-influenced R&B slapper. Produced by ATL mainstay The Honorable C-Note, “Murder Charge” finds Verse boasting about their ends over frenzied strings and booming bass. “Murder Charge” is endlessly replayable, exquisitely produced, and perfect for the club or the whip. Featuring a special guest appearance from Ty Dolla $ign, “Murder Charge” is just one flavor of the versatile and accomplished Diamonds. Released by Verse’s own VVS Society label, Diamonds hits stores on November10th.

Verse is in a league of his own, and called on by the best to create hits that resonate from now, until forever. No matter what he accomplishes or encounters, Verse will remain faithful to what he has been called to be, a game changer. He has worked with Jay-Z and Kanye on the Watch The Throne album, receiving a Grammy nomination because of that. He has also been called on by Justin Bieber, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, Young Jeezy, TLC, and numerous others. “My goal is to be remembered as the one who gave 100%. I want my music and anything I touch to resonate forever. It is my desire to take people back to a time, or evoke forgotten emotions, when they hear my music, because it’s so raw, honest, and real. I simply want to go in the books as one of the greatest,” is how he describes what he envisions his legacy to be. With his hands in a little bit of everything, from behind the scenes to front and center on stage, his impact will be felt all over.
